After a traumatic experience of a hospital birth where I felt not listened to, not respected and the victim of medical racism, I decided to take complete ownership for the birth of my second son. I educated myself, practised techniques that would regulate emotional safety and set expectations for my birth team to support me in the way I needed so that even if things deviated away from my Plan A, I was the one making the decisions for my birth.
