I don’t believe you need a doula to tell you how to birth your baby.

You don’t need someone to take over.

You don’t need someone to promise you the perfect birth.

And you definitely don’t need fixing.

You need someone who gets that you are the expert in you — your body, your values, your circumstances and your baby.

My job is to walk beside you.

To give you evidence and balanced information.
To help you understand your options and your rights.
To support your nervous system when things feel overwhelming.
To suggest movement and positions when they may help.
To advocate for your wishes.
To support your birth partner, not replace them.
And to stay firmly in your corner when the plan changes.

Because birth doesn’t always follow the script.

My measure of a “positive birth” isn’t whether you got Plan A.

It’s whether you felt heard, respected, informed, involved and supported along the way.

That’s what Mystri Mumma is about.

One of the things that saddens me most is that the majority of families who come to work with me are expecting their second baby.

Not because they’re more deserving of support.

But because their first birth left them feeling like something was missing.

They tell me things like…

“I wish I’d known my options.”

“I wish I’d asked more questions.”

“I wish I’d realised I could take my time before making a decision.”

“I wish I’d had someone who knew me, not just my notes.”

They aren’t looking for a different baby.

They’re looking for a different experience.

One where they feel heard, respected and involved in the decisions being made about their care.

So if you’re pregnant with your first baby, I want you to know this…

You don’t have to earn support by having a traumatic birth first.

You don’t have to wait until afterwards to discover what you wish you’d known.

You deserve personalised care.

You deserve continuity.

You deserve balanced, evidence-based information.

You deserve someone who takes the time to understand what matters to you.
