Pooja is caring, a fantastic communicator, incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about helping people navigate their own individual journey. She helped to advocate our wishes and respected our choices in birth which we are thankful for.
Pooja was an absolute godsend and worth her weight in gold. She guided us and informed us every step of the way and without her being there I don’t think I would have been able to given birth naturally as there was quite a few times I felt like giving up, but her support, advice, massage techniques, the list goes on, were invaluable.

Pooja has the most calming and empowering aura. Her support for our second birth was priceless and we cannot ever be able to express in words how grateful we were for her guidance and love (especially with massaging my sweaty hands!)

hi... i'm pooja

a true desi girl

I'm an OG Leicester Girl with my values deeply enrooted in my heritage home of India. I live with my husband and 2 boys, am my parents only child and come from 2 very large extended families (one here in Leicester and one back home in India!)

Living in the UK, being exposed to infertility within the family from an early age and hearing all the fear and negative stories that came with pregnancy and birth really frightened me. I had always been obsessed with the pregnant body and in awe of how women can grow an entire human and then birth their babies- but something felt massively off when I was hearing the women around me word vomiting their horrendous experiences with professionals who were supposed to be caring for them and then finishing with "I was so glad that they saved me". It just didn't make sense!

Why does every woman need saving?

How is it that pregnancy is such a celebrated experience yet birth is feared as an event you must endure?

The list of questions I had were endless and I never found anyone who could answer them... Not here in the UK anyway. Not until I spoke to my Aaji (Maternal Grandmother).

Birth was normal in India.

Aaji shared beautiful stories of women being supported and celebrated at each stage. How girls were welcomed to watch, learn and the knowledge was passed down. How women observed, encouraged, held space and had patience to see how things unfold. She explained how a pregnant woman was encouraged to do particular house chores to help the body and pelvis prepare for birth. She explained how The Village Dai (Midwife) provided reassurance and presence. She explained that post birth a new mother is massaged, care for and fed for at least 6 weeks to allow her body to rest from pregnancy and childbirth. She explained how babies were always held by mothers with zero pressure to separate them.

Aaji told me every pregnancy and birth were celebrated!

I wanted what she was sharing but I couldn't understand how this was even remotely possible until I chose to make a change for myself.

I chose to research.

I chose to unlearn and relearn.

I chose a birth team that felt right for me.

I chose to understand my body and the maternity system.

I chose to reclaim my roots and take back the control.

I chose me.

And now I get share my wisdom whilst doing a job that I love by working with women like you who know exactly what they want!

I get to watch you honour yourself, your roots and your voice!

I get to witness you embrace your power.

And the ripple effect is incredible.

Stronger women

Stronger mothers

Stronger communities!

An essential course for anyone pregnant! Pooja was so welcoming and knowledgeable. The sessions were fun, well structured, packed full of amazing information for us to soak up and delivered with a fab handbook for us to keep after.
Pooja doesn't sell the hynpobirthing dream of an ideal natural birth to all. She provides you with all the knowledge you need to make informed descions no matter what journey your birth takes you on which we found really comforting and realistic compared to some hypnobirthing courses you see online.
